The Opportunity
Rystad Energy is looking for analytically driven early-career professionals to join our Americas consulting team as we expand in Houston and New York.
Our consulting engagements span a broad set of topics and client types including commercial due diligence/transaction support for investors, market assessment for emerging firms, corporate strategy development for major energy companies, and policy analysis for governments and trade organizations.
Examples of projects you may work on:
Asset valuation for downstream product terminal
Market studies for high-profile energy IPOs (Fervo, Flowco)
Frontier exploration benchmarking for oil and gas majors
Long-term strategy for integrated US solar module manufacturer
Renewable fuels adoption strategy for maritime sector
Assessment of US-based methane fee and impact on upstream suppliers
Our Americas consulting teams are based in Houston, Texas and New York, New York. We are hiring early career professionals to start in the Fall of 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-day:
Collaborate with team members to plan and execute project workstreams, often using Microsoft Excel and internal Rystad products to manipulate and forecast data
Prepare client-ready presentations, using Microsoft PowerPoint and additional visualization tools
Communicate with internal team members and external stakeholders on relevant findings, methodologies, and next steps
Leverage AI to streamline workflows across data manipulation and analysis
Occasional workflows:
Map geospatial information using GIS programs
Build models and analyze large data sets in python
Develop client-side products and market reports in collaboration with the Analysis department
Support the commercial team with business development related to ongoing or previous client work
You will work on challenging assignments requiring rigorous analysis to drive insights and conclusions. As a member of project teams, you will engage closely with clients and learn and deploy knowledge quickly. You will work collaboratively on project teams, supporting clients across upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas sectors, as well as energy transition areas such as renewables, hydrogen, and carbon capture.
Your responsibilities will include structuring and breaking down ambiguous problems, performing quantitative analysis, producing reports, and delivering recommendations, operating with urgency to deliver results within client-driven timeframes. You will work primarily at the Rystad Energy office you are based in but may travel to client sites as required.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative field (engineering, economics, energy policy, etc) with 0–3 years of experience in energy, consulting, or a related field
Experience using Microsoft Office for modeling and data visualization (Excel, PowerPoint)
Familiarity with Python, GIS, SQL, or other quantification and visualization software is a plus
Strong quantitative skills, including experience with data analysis, modeling, or engineering applications
Ability to translate complex analysis into clear written deliverables, presentations, and data visualizations for clients and internal stakeholders
Demonstrated interest in and understanding of energy markets, technologies, and policy
Ability to manage multiple workstreams, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
