POSITION OVERVIEW
The Sr. IT Asset Data Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the technical solutions that support Oportun’s IT Asset Management (ITAM), Software Asset Management (SAM), and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) capabilities. This role partners closely with the Service Asset and Configuration Manager to engineer scalable asset data solutions, automate integrations, and improve the accuracy, reliability, and governance of asset and configuration data within ServiceNow.
As a senior technical contributor, this position leads the implementation of solutions that enhance asset lifecycle management, strengthen platform integrations, and improve operational efficiency across the enterprise. By delivering reliable asset management data and solutions, this role directly supports Oportun’s mission to build a better financial future for our members through responsible technology management and operational excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the data and data quality of the ServiceNow IT Asset Management, Software Asset Management, and CMDB technical solutions.
- Partner with the Configuration Manager and SAM Administrator to engineer scalable solutions that improve asset data quality, governance, and operational efficiency.
- Support external and internal audits by ensuring asset inventory consistency, completeness, and traceability.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Infrastructure, Security, IT Operations, and application owners to enhance asset data quality supporting asset management processes.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data solutions that support compliance, operational metrics, executive reporting, and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with ServiceNow developers and administrators to enhance asset-related integrations, such as hardware/software product models and entitlements.
- Assist in evaluating new ServiceNow Asset Management capabilities and recommend enhancements that improve automation, scalability, and data integrity.
REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in Technology with a focus on IT Asset Management, Configuration Management, or similar ITAM toolsets.
- 3+ years of experience developing and supporting ServiceNow Asset Management, Software Asset Management, CMDB, or IT Operations Management solutions.
- Strong understanding of IT Asset Management, Software Asset Management, Configuration Management, and CMDB best practices.
