Position Overview:
The Curriculum Specialist is a detail-oriented educational professional responsible for the design, development, revision, and alignment of curriculum and instructional materials. This role focuses on executing high-quality curriculum builds and updates based on data-driven decision-making, accreditation requirements, and evolving regulatory standards.
Working under the guidance of the Curriculum Manager or Director of Curriculum & Instruction, the Curriculum Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that all course content is instructionally sound, standards-aligned, and compliant with state, national, and accreditation expectations. This role requires strong writing skills, precision in standards alignment, and the ability to translate academic and regulatory requirements into clear, engaging instructional materials.
In addition, the Curriculum Specialist supports faculty-related processes, including hiring, onboarding, and ongoing professional learning, to ensure strong alignment between curriculum design and instructional delivery.
What You’ll Do:
Curriculum Design & Development
Develop and revise curriculum, including syllabi, learning modules, assignments, and assessments, aligned to program outcomes and instructional best practices.
Build detailed assignment storyboards, rubrics, and learning activities that support measurable candidate outcomes.
Translate academic frameworks (e.g., InTASC, CAEP, SPA, state standards) into instructionally sound and assessable curriculum components.
Ensure curriculum reflects research-based instructional strategies and adult learning principles.
Curriculum Review & Continuous Improvement
Analyze candidate performance data, survey feedback, and faculty input to inform curriculum revisions.
Execute updates to curriculum based on formal review cycles and identified improvement areas.
Maintain version control and documentation of curriculum updates and revisions.
Collaborate with the Curriculum Manager or Director to prioritize and implement curriculum improvements.
Standards Alignment & Mapping
Develop and maintain detailed standards alignment matrices linking curriculum to state, national, and accreditation standards.
Ensure all curriculum components are explicitly aligned to required competencies and standards.
Conduct gap analyses to identify missing or underrepresented standards.
Update curriculum to reflect changes in standards, frameworks, and regulatory expectations.
Accreditation & Regulatory Writing
Draft and revise accreditation documentation, including:
Standards alignment narratives
Evidence-based justifications
Program descriptions and curricular explanations
Support state approval and accreditation submissions (e.g., CAEP, state DOE, DEAC).
